The above are general guidelines, your pattern may not fit into one specific category. I will give you a more accurate quote once I view your pattern and its specific details.  I look forward to collaborating with you!

Tech Editing Workflow

I will go through everything in your pattern to check for errors, inconsistencies, and offer suggestions.

Once you have contacted me and confirmed you would like to work together, I will send you a contract with the details of the tech edit including services included in the quote, payment information, etc. and you will send me your pattern with any additional files necessary such as photos, spreadsheets, etc.  I am comfortable working with Word, PDF and Google Docs.

I work over patterns in two passes.

The first pass checks the crucial technical parts of the pattern, including but not limited to:

  • Stitch/row counts and repeats

  • Conversions work and are correct

  • Charts are accurate, can be repeated, and match written instructions

  • Grading and sizes are accurate and make sense

  • Schematics are accurate and complete

The second pass copyedits and proofreads, including but not limited to:

  • Grammar, punctuation and spelling

  • Phrasing and terminology consistency

  • Instructions are complete and are in order

  • Style consistency in text formatting and pattern layout

  • Materials list is accurate

I will then send you the edited pattern. You will then make necessary changes and return the pattern to me. I will look over it again to ensure all changes were applied properly and look for anything that may have been missed.
