PATTERN DIRECTIONS
You will want to make sure that whatever color you start with, you will also have enough left over to finish piece with when you graft the ends together at the very end.
Cast on 30 stitches using the provisional cast on method with scrap yarn. Place marker at BOR and join in the round.
Round 1-2: Knit with your first color.
Round 3: *K1, yo2, k2* to BOR. Change to your next color.
Round 4: *K1, sl1 dropping the extra loop, k2*
Round 5: *K1, sl1, k2*
Round 6: Knit.
Repeat Round 6 until you have reached the desired length you want this color stripe to be.
Round 7: *K3, kyo2* to BOR. Change to your next color.
Round 8: *K3, sl1 dropping the extra loop*
Round 9: *K3, sl1*
Round 10: Knit.
Repeat Round 10 until you have reached the desired length you want this color stripe to be.
Repeat Rounds 3-10 until you have reached about 1 in / 2.5 cm less than the circumference of your head. Your last row should end with the color you started with.
Finishing
You earwarmer is now ready to be grafted together. But first, let's secure the yarn ends. Keeping the live stitches on your needles, carefully turn the earwarmer inside out. Tie off and secure all loose ends. Then turn it right side out.
Now we will graft the earwarmer closed using Kitchener Stitch.
Using your spare set of needles, pick up stitches that are directly above the provisional scrap yarn cast on. Remove the scrap yarn cast on, and you will now have live stitches on your needles and at each end of the earwarmer. Being careful to not twist the earwarmer, bring the ends together and use Kitchener Stitch to graft together the live stitches.
Cut and weave in ends. Hand wash gently in cool water, lay flat to dry, and enjoy!
